Our Choice

Unkind words
are knocking
at my door.
“Come in” I say.
“Make yourself
at home.
You can dine
on my feelings.”

A perspective: People are not in their lives to make you feel good.
You have the power, the responsibility and the sovereignty to do that for yourself.

Imagine the feeling of being loved and appreciated. Sit for a moment and drink it in.

Now imagine that there is one person who has decided that they don’t like you. That how you express doesn’t resonate with them and they let you know. Sit in that feeling of disharmony for a moment.

When we experience dissonance, we may internalize the feelings of others. Our self-worth can seesaw up and down depending on their opinion of us.

When we seek approval, we give our power away. We have aligned to the belief that what someone else thinks is more important than who we are. We may feel sad, disappointed or angry.

What if, instead of reacting, we stay neutral and tolerant. We offer ourselves the acknowledgment we desire and unconditionally accept who we are and how we express. We remember and know our inherent worth as unique aspects of Source.

What if, we accept and allow others to be who they are by remembering that they too, are unique aspects of the Divine.

This is freedom. This is love. This is harmony.
